Casual 2048 - Zen Merge
_Last updated: October 19, 2026_
Studios Octave ("we", "us"), the developer of Casual 2048 - Zen Merge
("the App"), respects your privacy. This policy explains what data the App
handles, who else is involved through advertising, and what rights you have.
1. Summary
- The App works fully offline. Your game data stays on your device.
- No account is required and no personal data is transmitted by the App itself.
- We do not sell your data, ever.
- The ad SDK integrated in the App (Google AdMob) may collect and process
device data to serve and measure ads — see §5.
- Contact for any privacy question: caesarencodingfactor@gmail.com
2. Who we are
Studios Octave — Clément Darme, L'Abergement-Clémenciat, France. We are the
data controller for the App's own processing (the "local storage" described
in §4). Google and our ad network act as independent controllers for their
advertising processing (§5).
3. What the App does
Casual 2048 - Zen Merge is a tile-merging puzzle game. It has no server, no
login and no social features. All gameplay happens on your device.
4. Data stored locally on your device
The App stores the following in your device's private app storage (a
"Shared Preferences" file). This data never leaves your device unless
you back up your device (Android's built-in backup may include it, and
uninstalling removes it):
- Board size you last played and the size chosen on the picker page
- Best score ("personal best") per board size
- Biggest tile reached per board size
- Number of undos you have earned/used
- Achievements/tile milestones you reached
- Your display preferences (dark / light / system theme; English / French)
We do not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone, files, or any
other Android permission. The App requests no sensitive permissions.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob) — third-party processing
The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob ("AdMob"), a service of
Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. When ads are shown or requested, AdMob
receives and may process:
- Device identifiers (such as the advertising ID)
- Approximate network location derived from your IP address
- Device characteristics (model, OS version, screen size) and app state
- Information about your interactions with ads (viewed, clicked, closed)
Google uses this to serve ads, cap their frequency, detect fraud and measure
performance. Google's own use of this data is governed by
Google's Privacy Policy.
Your ad choices:
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's settings
(Android: Settings → Google → Ads), and opt out of
ads personalisation there where regional law applies.
- We do not use the device's precise location, contacts or other
sensitive data to target ads.
- AdMob may itself display ads in other apps independently of us; that
processing is outside this policy but is covered by Google's.
We will configure the App's AdMob privacy settings (including any
child-directed treatment) to match the guidance Google publishes before
each release.
6. Rewarded and interstitial ads
Two ad types are used:
- Rewarded ads — shown only when you tap "undo" with no undos left or
after a game over when you choose to keep your biggest tile. You choose
whether to watch; the reward is granted only when the ad finishes.
- Interstitial ads — may be shown between game rounds, for example
before "Try again" after a defeat.
Rewarded-ad completion status (whether the ad was watched) is reported by
the ad SDK to the App so it can grant the reward; this status is kept only
in the local storage described in §4.
7. Google Play Games achievements (planned)
A future release may mirror local tile milestones to Google Play Games
achievements. That would connect your Google account with gameplay
milestones, handled under Google's Terms of Service and its own privacy
notice. We will keep the offline achievements working even if Google Play
is not enabled on your device.
8. Children
The App is a family-friendly puzzle game, but it is not directed at
children under 13 (or under the relevant age of consent in your region).
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a
child's data was sent to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Priority will also be given to AdMob's child-directed ad settings when the
ad integration is completed.
9. Data retention and deletion
- Local data: stays until you delete it. Clearing the App's storage in
Android settings, or uninstalling the App, removes all of it.
- Ad data: handled and retained according to Google's privacy policy
and your device's advertising settings.
10. Security
Because all your game data stays in the device's sandboxed storage, it is
protected by Android's own security model. We have no servers to breach,
and the App transmits nothing on its own beyond what the ad SDK does.
11. Your rights
Depending on your region (EU/EEA citizens under the GDPR, California
residents under the CPRA, and others), you may have rights to access,
correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict
processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Since the App itself processes no personal data, exercising these rights
in practice means:
- Deletion: uninstall the App (removes all local data), or clear its
storage in Android settings.
- Access / export: your data is limited to the local items listed in
§4; you can see them all within the App itself.
- Objections about advertising: manage your advertising ID or reset it
as described in §5, or contact Google directly.
If any processing were later found to involve us receiving personal data
directly, we will honour your rights requests within one month.
12. International transfers
The App itself sends nothing off-device. AdMob may process data in
countries other than yours, including the United States; Google applies
Standard Contractual Clauses / the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for EU
residents, as described in Google's own policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the App's data handling changes and adjust
the "last updated" date above. Material changes will also be mentioned in
the App's release notes.
