These Terms of Service govern your use of Insect Identifier (Android package: com.studiosoctave.insectidentifier), published by Studios Octave ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Publisher and contact

2. Permission to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for its intended lawful purpose. You may not redistribute, sell, modify, or reverse engineer the app except where applicable law permits; use it unlawfully; or interfere with its normal operation or third-party services it uses.

3. Your content and device

Photos you take or choose with the app, and the Insectopedia entries you create, remain yours. They are stored only on your device: we have no access to them and cannot recover them for you, so keep your own copies of anything you would not want to lose.

4. Advertising and third-party services

The app currently uses Google AdMob for advertising. We may change or add ad networks or mediation providers. Ads and links are supplied by third parties; their availability, content, and destinations are controlled by those providers, not by us. Your interactions with advertisers are between you and the relevant third party. See the Privacy Policy for information about advertising-related data processing.

5. Updates and availability

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features or the app, including to address security, compatibility, or legal requirements. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or compatibility with every device.

6. Intellectual property

The app and its original materials are owned by Studios Octave or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you. Third-party components remain subject to their respective licences and terms.

7. Disclaimers and liability

Species identifications are produced automatically by an on-device model and are estimates only. They can be wrong, especially for similar-looking species, for blurry photos, or for insects photographed from an unusual angle. Do not rely on the app for medical, veterinary, agricultural, pest-control, or legal decisions; check with a qualified expert or a local reference when the answer matters.

8. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the app and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or end access if reasonably necessary to address misuse, security, legal, or operational concerns.

9. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms when the app or applicable requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use after the new terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules that apply where you live. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
